Hesham Osman was born and raised in Cairo and earned a business degree and then a master’s degree in accounting from Cairo University.

Hesham has more than 30 years of experience in finance and administration, most of it at Columbia University Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and the Berrie Center. He uses the words “complicated “ and “difficult” to describe what it has been like to balance the budget of one of the world’s premier multi-disciplinary academic diabetes centers—in an era of shrinking government grants and higher operating expenses along with increasing numbers of people with diabetes who need care. He finds the challenge rewarding.

“Hesham is an incredibly talented financial analyst and it would be impossible to find a more dedicated and collaborative colleague. We are very fortunate to have Hesham overseeing the Berrie Center’s financial management,” says Robin Goland, MD, Berrie Center Co-Director.

He recalls with fondness his up-bringing near the Great Pyramids outside of Cairo and then working for an Egyptian-American manufacturing company after graduation from college.  Says Hesham about his move to the US, “America is and continues to be the land of opportunity. I love it here. This is home.”
